We are currently filming with several groups of indigenous Mayan women in the Yucatán who are conserving the endangered Melipona bees. In November, we had the pleasure of documenting the women meliponicultoras of Jardin Alak, a mayan educational center based just outside of Valladolid. Through caring for these precious native bees, these women are preserving their cultural heritage which spans back more than 3200 yrs. We hope to return in Feb/March 2026 to continue documenting their stories.
